wtf, there are lady gaga oreos?

Stop eating Lady Gaga’s Oreos - by Adam Mastroianni

an amusing discussion about the demise of artistic criticism and artists selling out.

which, for the record, i think we should go back to castigating artists for doing this. this is a form of elitism i can get behind.

some solid bangers in here:

The internet decapitated art criticism, elevating the YouTube commenter to the same level as the Pitchfork editor

i say this and i should point out that i find pitchfork to be full of shit a lot of the time.

Casual consumers have no such hangups. They don’t care whether every pop song they listen to is written by the same middle-aged Swedish guy; they just want their eardrums vibrated, their retinas tickled, and their pleasure centers stimulated. And so, the more you cater to the consumer over the connoisseur, the more you’re going to be serving up slop. The internet makes this possible; competition makes it irresistible.

apparently, we’ve soured on the rich, but we’re totally down with the famous. turns out that with stripe, OnlyFans and the youtube partner program you can monetize that a lot more readily than you could in days of yore. we, as a society, seem to like our famous to get rich as well. rich as a byproduct of fame is apparently, the right move.
