BBSP: big-money broke behavior

Big-money broke behavior

i’ve largely regarded BBSP as oddly consumerist wankery with occaisional insights that slap. they really stuck the landing in this post.

after describing a fair amount of juvenile judgement and dumb “rich” behavior they work their way to the profound twist.

Because a state of “spiritual brokeness” implies something fascinating, which is that there are broke ways to spend, and to make, lots of money.

Sneaker reselling and Chrome Hearts reselling are two for sure. Profiting from a predictive market like Kalshi and Polymarket is a very spiritually broke way to make lots of money. Selling Bored Ape NFTs was. Doing a cryptocurrency rug pull is.

…

Corporations dodging taxes while enjoying government subsidies is classic big-money broke behavior. Uber algorithmically depressing driver compensation to gauge precisely how little they can get away with paying? DoorDash “misallocating” deliverymen’s tips? That’s cruel, corrosive, big-money broke behavior.

…

A huge part of the problem here is that a tiny coterie of cursed big-money broke bois have their hands on the levers of global power right now.

But real talk, that has long been true, just in different degrees. What we are really witnessing is a deep spiritual brokeness at the heart of the empire, expanding and exposing itself in loathsome new ways as the empire falters.

The upshot is that it smells civilization-threateningly broke in here. The answer is that we need to get our communitarian bands up, find our way to the solidaristic Chad’s path, and get these big-money beggars out of here.

i don’t know what the “Chad’s path” is but this oddly hits home in a way i wasn’t suspecting. keep going down this path BBSP.
