notes bookshop link honestly, this didn’t get really interesting until the last 50 pages or so. there’s a couple of hundred pages of setup on what constitutes a hack, examples of “hacks” across the spectrum of society, etc. there was a bit of less than obvious discussion around how some “hacks” become entrenched into the law, how common law interacts with these “hacks” and a generally slow/ossified capability of our governmental/legal systems to address the use of said hacks....

(it’s a short read.) this came to me via a mailing list that i’m on that has, in my opinion, a decidedly curmudgeonly orientation to its membership. so i feel a real need to look at links from this source with a more adversarial bent....

links, etc Michael Cohen gave his lawyer fake citations invented by Google Bard AI tool | Ars Technica and so it begins. for the handful of things where i’ve used “AI”, it’s saved me a little bit time, but you still need to crawl up the ass of the output and make sure that you’re solid. AI done right still requires that we have some form of work/validation ethic to ensure that the outputs are actually useful....
