notes bookshop link because i’m a sucker for pretty much all things KSR. this was a fun read, pulpy in all of its 1990s aspects with an interesting take on the fictional internet and wrist phones. there’s an interesting meta discussion in here about the relationships between scientists/elites, politicians and the masses at large. some of it parallels the tensions and the lack of trust between the technocrats/scientists in our bureaucracy and society at large with a heaping helping of political messiness....

notes bookshop link this was a tome, and it kept getting just a few pages at a time in terms of grinding through it. it wasn’t really a grind to read, it was simply so large that i couldn’t bring myself to travel with it over the past month or so. this is actually 3 books pulled together into a single volume. i think it’s call the “science in the capital” series and it’s kind of early KSR cli-fi....

books the high sierra: a love story (kim stanley robinson) i’m a recent convert to KSR’s stuff. i’ve loved all of it and this is no exception. this is the first bit of non-fiction i’ve read by him. honestly, i don’t know if he has more. having done a limited amount of hiking in the sierra’s, i was hooked and burned through this faster than i expected to. a book like this makes you question your life decisions....
