mastodon upgrade packaging gotcha

i updated my mastodon installation the other day and it looked like everything went swimmingly. but, i discovered that they’d changed the structure of the docker containers. this was evident if i was using the docker-compose.yml that was in the repo and just blithely using that. but, durrr, i’m not. this seemed to chug along for a while with little/no apparent ill effects, but i restarted the containers the other day for something else and lo, the mastodon-streaming container was unhappy....

WIP: mastodon setup notes

overview note - this is a WIP while i find time to write this down notes on installing mastodon in a self-hosted manner where the front end is largely proxied by cloudflare’s tunneld services and object storage is handled on an S3 server someplace in the cloud. pre-requisites you’re gonna need the following a domain with the ability to control your DNS if you want to use the cloudflare biz, you’re going to need to have the DNS and the account elements setup on cloudflare in advance of this because, well, cloudflare’s going to be the front end of things....

fedifetcher a link to this landed in my mastodon feed the other day and i spent a little bit of time installing it and tweaking for my setup. running as a container via cron it fits the bill beautifully for filling in the missing bits of replies that are associated with a post in your feed.
