movies dumb money (2023) - watched this on the plane. if you remember this time, it was bonkers and kind of beautiful at the same time. (4/5) the gentlemen (2019) - watched this in the plane, guy ritchie definitely has a style. fun, solid cast, a couple of novel twists. books the high sierra: a love story (kim stanley robinson) i’m a recent convert to KSR’s stuff. i’ve loved all of it and this is no exception. this is the first bit of non-fiction i’ve read by him. honestly, i don’t know if he has more. having done a limited amount of hiking in the sierra’s, i was hooked and burned through this faster than i expected to. a book like this makes you question your life decisions....
movies knives out (no, not the new one) white noise (netflix) why did we watch this again? pinocchio (netflix) - very good. would recommend. the menu (on the plane) - very good. would recommend. jurassic world: dominion (amazon prime) - amusing, would not recommend. ticket to paradise (on the plane) - saccharin. would not recommend. patagonia films (on the plane) - i’ve been watching these on flights lately. they really make me feel like i’ve been living my life wrong....
movies the eyes of tammy faye - i still cannot believe that this was jessica chastain. but tammy faye does come off looking better than i recall her being in the 80s. the lost daughter - uh, good, i guess? i could not get into it. the power of the dog - talk about a slow burn. brilliant. love and monsters - fumb dun the last duel - great, now i’m thinking about my heirs....
movies save yourselves - far more entertaining than initially expected. this made 2021 the year of the poufe. shirley - elizabeth moss plays menace with glee. not fun, tough to pull away from as well. the assistant - i can’t recall the last time that you loathed a character that you never actually saw on screen so much. oh, and seriously? boner injections are a thing? women in blue (PBS) - predates the murder of george floyd....
