there’s a lot to unpack here. i’m not a david brooks fan, but i have found him to be reasonable and one always got a sense of his arguments being made in good faith.

there’s a clear and strong distinction to be made between those who veer over-optimistically far in the tone-policing and moralizing (progressive left) and choosing to invite into your tent those with fascist ideology.
