from where i’m sitting, this has been the duh conclusion since 2017 when trump 1.0 was sworn in. the petro-states have been drawing the lines here and they’re not going to leave that much money sitting in the ground if there’s anything that they can do about it.

as a species we cannot seem to get out of our own way here and in the US of A we can’t seem to effectively move in a reasonable direction that’s not grounded in first principles stupidity and bowing to the corporate agenda.

imho, we need to be looking at geoengineering and researching the hell out of it. you can’t say that climate change is an existential problem for humanity without looking at all the options to minimize or mitigate the impacts of our collective failures here.

the same goes for durable energy sources like nuclear and streamlining permitting for transmission or facilitating localized generation.
