Tubes: A Journey to the Center of the Internet

a pleasant enough quick read. if you’re in the tribe that works on this stuff, you’re familiar with many of the destinations and the problems that are discussed in the book. there are a few nice shout outs and some co-conspirators are mentioned. the MICE project and the “chicago problem” get a nice shout out.

i honestly didn’t know what to expect from this book. but i think as far as pointing out the physicality of the internet and how things get plumbed you could do a lot worse. to be fair, it’s not very easy to describe the internet or provide clear mappings to physical infrastructure. a noble attempt nonetheless.
